On September 1st 2009, The Joan and Joel Smilow Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and Prevention Center’s cardiac outpatient program received a 3 year re-certification as a program of excellence in cardiovascular rehabilitation and prevention care from American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). The benefits of having a certified program in cardiac rehabilitation are that patient and family members want to participate in programs that are considered the best and the classification of Certified helps them decide between programs. The essential standards required in certification are being recognized by insurance companies, as part of performance measurements in patient care.
